The G917-1 is intended for demodulation of sub carriers in the 1-1600 kHz range. The sensitivity is adequate for use as a general receiver. It demodulates AM, FM, CW, USB and LSB with bandwidths of 150Hz, 1, 2.5, 3.5, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 16 kHz. It has a spectrum translation output for pre-detection recording at 10, 50 and 100 kHz (all fine tunable). It also has Digital Automatic Frequency Control (DAFC) for accurate and stable reception on any frequency. The tactile knobs, which have funny shaped heads in multiple colors are designed to facilitate operation in low light or total darkness. Definitely a spy radio feature.

The G917-1 is almost identical to the DMS-105. Electrically the only major difference is the use of the LED display in the counter instead of the Nixies.

The G917-1 has fantastic flexibility for a radio. Note the modes, AM, FM, CW, USB and LSB and the bandwidths 150 Hz, 1, 2, 2,5, 4, 5, 5.5, 7, 8 and 16 kHz. It also provides a translated IF output centered on 10 kHz, 50 kHz or 100 kHz.

The digital frequency counter has the CEI/WJ Digital Automatic Frequency Control (DAFC) feature. This allows the frequency to be locked to the timebase in the counter for excellent stability.

The inside is pure WJ engineering, always of the highest order.
